It is very normal to grieve the loss of your pet.  Grief can look very different for different people, and in different situations.  There are a lot of valuable resources to provide guidance through the grief process, describe what normal grief looks like versus when to seek additional help, support groups, and more.  The following links are some credible resources to help you begin your journey.

Common medical conditions leading to euthanasia in senior pets

There are many different illnesses that are common in our older patients. Below are some of the more common conditions that lead to the decision to euthanize. Check to see if there may be treatment options available for your pet, and call your regular vet or Dr. Kristen to schedule a consultation to discuss palliative care and quality-of-life for your pet.

Behavioral Euthanasia Resources

If you are considering euthanasia for your pet because of behavior concerns, please know that there are many resources to help with behavior modification. If you have worked with your veterinarian and/or a behavioral specialist and still feel that euthanasia is the necessary option, there are grief resources specific to pet loss due to behavior.
