Aftercare

After your pet has passed, you may choose to have your pet cremated or buried.  Comfort Care Mobile partners with Forever Friends for cremation services.  Pricing is based on weight and is available on our services page. 

Several funeral homes in our area offer pet cremations.  If you wish to use a funeral home for your pet’s aftercare, you will need to contact them directly to make arrangements.  

Grief Support

It is very normal to grieve the loss of your pet.  Grief can look very different for different people and in different situations.  There are a lot of valuable resources to provide guidance through the grief process, describe what normal grief looks like versus when to seek additional help, support groups, and more.  The following links are some credible resources to help you begin your journey.

Burial

Some people choose burial for their pets.  There are pet cemeteries; you would be responsible for making any arrangements directly with them.  If you choose to bury your pet instead of having them cremated, please consider the following:

  1. In Ohio, you are required to bury a euthanized animal at least 4 feet below the surface.  You are responsible for checking and complying with your state and local ordinances regarding burial of pets as these may vary from locality to locality. 
  2. You must be the owner of the burial site or have explicit permission from the owner to bury your pet. 
  3. Avoid tree roots, flood lines, water sources, and utility lines.  The medications used to euthanize a pet can leak into the soil.

Cremation

Comfort Care Mobile partners with Forever Friends for cremation and memorial services.  You may choose to have your pet’s ashes scattered on private property or returned to you. Forever Friends offers many wonderful memorial products.  Please view their website for additional information. 

Memorials

Many people wish to memorialize their pet after they pass.  There are many ways to do this.  Memorial products, like jewelry, paw prints, and urns are available to browse at Forever Friends. Other options include Rainbow Bridge Hearts who create beautiful cremation glass, and Whisker and Fang creates wonderful hand-made picture frames with the pet’s collar.

Photography

Comfort Care Mobile partners with Old Dog New Prints for pre-euthanasia photo sessions.  This can be a great way to celebrate your pet’s life and bring happy memories for years to come.  Please reach out to them directly if you wish to use their services.

Same-Day appointments are often available. Standard hours are M-F 8AM-6PM; appointments scheduled outside of standard hours are available but are subject to an after-hours fee.
